However long you have been “under the bar” or have been training to achieve your specific goals, I am sure you have experienced physical and psychological detriments in your training (muscular and joint aches and pains, low energy/conditioning threshold throughout your routine, simply finding yourself “going through the motions”) this is the best time to take a step back, really dial in what your current training split is like, how long you have been training in this modality, and what aspects of your training you can change up…
There are so many methods of training to alter our body composition or aid in us succeeding in our goals, what I like to preach is the “KISS Principle” (Keep It Stupid Simple) you cannot and should not reinvent the wheel when it comes to certain training modalities and exercise selection, but a simple factor you can change up that can help most people is the variable in training called, FREQUENCY!
Frequency, simply put is HOW OFTEN you are training a specific muscle group or body part per week. Now if you were like me in high school I would of told you that on Monday I would be training my chest (obviously it’s International Chest Day) and I would train that muscle group and not touch it for the rest of the week, knowing I need to give it the proper rest and recovery period, when you find yourself increasing frequency into your training split your body will physically adapt to that stimulus to the added volume of movement and gradually over time you will see results.
If anyone has questions, I will be more than happy to dive deeper into this!
Train hard, Train often, Train smart
